By Staff Report, posted 1 month ago

The Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) is proud to recognize four of its lineworkers for earning top honors at the 2026 North Carolina Association of Municipal Electric Systems (NCAMES) Lineman Rodeo.

The annual competition brings together municipal electric utility professionals from across North Carolina to demonstrate their technical expertise, safety practices, equipment handling and ability to perform challenging tasks that mirror the work lineworkers encounter in the field.

Fayetteville PWC employees earned the following individual honors:

  • Blaine Nunnery – 2nd Place Overall
  • Clayton Davis – 3rd Place, Lightning Arrestor Change-Out
  • Cody Jonaitis – 3rd Place, Hurtman Rescue
  • Dustin Britt – 3rd Place, Load Transfer

The accomplishments highlight the high level of training, preparation and professionalism demonstrated by PWC's Electric System personnel.

“These accomplishments reflect the skill, dedication and commitment to safety that our lineworkers demonstrate every day,” said CEO/General Manager of Fayetteville PWC Timothy Bryant in a press release. “Whether responding to severe weather, restoring power during an outage or performing routine system maintenance, our customers can count on these professionals to serve our community safely and reliably.”

Safety is PWC's highest priority, and events such as the NCAMES Lineman Rodeo provide employees with opportunities to sharpen their skills, reinforce safe work practices and share knowledge with other municipal electric utilities across North Carolina.

PWC lineworkers routinely respond to power outages, severe weather events, system maintenance activities and emergency situations while helping maintain a reliable electric system for customers throughout Fayetteville and Cumberland County.

Participation in industry events also supports PWC’s ongoing investment in workforce development, safety training and operational excellence.

The 2027 NCAMES Lineman Rodeo will be hosted by Fayetteville PWC on Thursday, May 13 at the Crown Argi-Expo Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
