SteelFab, Inc., a North Carolina-founded manufacturer specializing in structural steel fabrication, has announced plans to expand its Fayetteville operations. The project represents a $22 million investment and will create 42 new jobs paying an average annual salary of nearly $70,000.
As part of this expansion, FCEDC reported that SteelFab will construct a new 129,000-square-foot facility adjacent to its existing campus near the Murchison Road Corridor, further strengthening its presence in Fayetteville.
“SteelFab looks forward to substantially growing our business in Fayetteville, NC,” said SteelFab's Region President Rob Burlington in a press release. "The support from the City of Fayetteville, Cumberland County, NC Commerce and FCEDC was extremely eye-opening in helping us realize our goal of a new manufacturing facility and growing workforce in this community. We are excited to continue our tradition as an NC-founded, privately owned steel manufacturer supplying projects across the State and the East Coast.”
SteelFab has operations in 13 states and supplies structural steel for commercial and industrial construction projects across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, education and logistics. The company has contributed to several projects throughout the region, including the Methodist University's Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine.
The expansion was supported through a combined local incentive package of $690,987 from the City of Fayetteville and Cumberland County and will be distributed in installments over five years.
“This investment brings 42 well-paying jobs and $22 million in capital investment into the Murchison Road Corridor, a community I grew up in and have fought for as Mayor,” stated City of Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin in a press release. “With starting wages of $59,650, well above our county average, this is the growth our residents deserve.”
“Cumberland County is proud to support Project Superman and the meaningful economic opportunity it brings”, said Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere in a press release. “This project strengthens our growing manufacturing sector and creates high-quality jobs while reinforcing our commitment to workforce development. As home to Fort Bragg, we know how vital our veterans and military families are to our economy, and this investment creates opportunities that leverage their talent and expertise. Through strong partnerships, we’re building a more competitive future for our region.”
The project also received support from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the North Carolina Community College System and Fayetteville Technical Community College.
Earlier today, Governor Stein announced that the State has awarded the company a One NC grant of $125,000. “North Carolina is a place where businesses like SteelFab can grow,” said Governor Josh Stein in a press release. “Cumberland County is home to a world-class workforce, legacy of manufacturing excellence, and convenient East Coast location. We’re grateful that SteelFab is doubling down on Cumberland.”
“FCEDC is proud to support SteelFab as it continues to invest in Fayetteville and Cumberland County,” said Robert Van Geons, FCEDC’s president & CEO, in a press release. “Our first priority is taking care of our existing industry, and this expansion is a testament to the strength of our workforce, business climate, and collaborative partnerships.”
