City of Fayetteville receives more than $12M for affordable housing

City of Fayetteville leaders have approved the use of more than $12 million in funding from the Economic and Community Development Department to alleviate the housing strain in the community.
The funds will go toward construction, acquisition and rehabilitation of affordable rental housing.
To help inform those eligible for funding, the City will host a Developer Workshop on Thursday, July 28 at 10 a.m. for members of the community interested in applying for funding.
The class will help for-profit and nonprofit corporations, individuals, general or limited partnerships who are seeking information about the development process. The event will also cover topics including private financing options, procurement, zoning and ongoing monitoring and compliance.
“The Developer Workshop is a part of the strategy to create more affordable housing within the City of Fayetteville,” stated the press release. The City’s goal is to alleviate the housing strain and create a more sustainable economy in the community.
The event will take place at Fayetteville Technical Community College in the Center for Business and Industry at 2723 Fort Bragg Road.
All organizations interested in funding are encouraged to participate in the workshop.
