Fayetteville based construction company Highland Construction and Restoration was recently sold to restoration company Blackmon Mooring & BMS CAT.
Highland Construction and Restoration was started in 1981 by Gary Strickland, father of former Highland Construction President Kenny Strickland. Kenny explains that the reason the company was started was due to his own family’s home being damaged by a fire during a time when there was no restoration industry. He believes this beginning helps the company operate from a place of compassion.
“Selling Highland is a really great opportunity for whoever would come in. We’re solid, we’ve been around for a long time, we have really great relationships with our employees,” said Kenny. “We have really great relationships with our subcontractor and material suppliers and we have really great relationships with our clients. There's so much future here, and I’m just not sure if I have the energy anymore as a man over 50 to do what I was doing when I was 25.”
After the sale was completed in early August, all employees stayed on after the sale was completed. Highland Construction operates out of its headquarters in Fayetteville with additional locations in Raleigh and Wilmington.
"Highland’s partnership with BMS CAT is an incredible opportunity for our employees, our customers, and the areas we serve. It allows us to take on bigger and more complex projects while maintaining our high-quality standards; It gives our team access to even greater professional opportunities; and, it gives our markets even more support when and where they need it most. It’s a very exciting partnership," said Kenny.
Midstreet Mergers & Acquisitions recently helped Kenny sell Highland Construction and Restoration to BMS CAT. BMS CAT was created in 1981 to serve commercial customers and aid in disaster relief on a national scale.
