As demand for construction workers continues to increase, a 6 percent job growth is predicted by 2030 in the U.S. Point2, a source for news on real estate, compiled a list of the most dynamic metro areas for jobs in construction, and Fayetteville earned a spot on this list.
Fayetteville was among several other North Carolina metros on the list, and ranked 99 out of the 146 metropolitan areas analyzed across the country.
For this study, Point2 focused their research on metros with more than 1,000 permits issued between January and June of 2022. Then they considered several factors which have an impact on the construction sector and its job evolution, such as the number of construction jobs, wages, changes in number of building permits issued, construction establishments, and cost of living.
Once all of the data had been gathered, Point2’s team gave each metro they had examined a ranking. According to the Point2 website, each factor that was analyzed received a weight to reflect its importance in obtaining the final rank:
In comparison to the other 145 metropolitan areas, Fayetteville experienced the highest increase in housing units in the past years with a 36 percent increase. This is far greater than even the second highest increase which was Gainesville, FL with a 22 percent increase.
