United Way of Cumberland County will be hosting its second annual Campaign Kickoff/Meal Packing event Aug. 25 at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Their campaign season will run from the end of August to about the middle of December.

This year they have 275 volunteers from local businesses and groups coming together to pack 35,000 meal packets. The organizer of the event, Melissa Reid, even added on two more tables so that 24 additional volunteers could participate in the event. The meal packets will be donated to the local Emergency Assistance Program Food Pantry program at Fayetteville Urban Ministry and Food Pantry Services at Catholic Charities.

“The response has just been so overwhelming. One of the companies told me that they’re bringing people from all over the state to come in and help,” shared Reid.

The United Way Campaign is about helping others. The organizers of the event have been overjoyed with the support from the community. If anyone would like to learn more about making a contribution towards positive change in the community they can visit unitedway-cc.org
