The City of Fayetteville will host a public groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation tennis center on Friday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. The groundbreaking will take place near the intersection of Filter Plant Drive and Bragg Boulevard.

“City staff have worked tirelessly in recent years to make our community a desirable place to live, work and play with the addition of a wide variety of options for recreation and enjoyment,” said City Manager Doug Hewett in a press release. “Bringing a world-class facility like this one to Fayetteville will attract professionals and enthusiasts from across the region to our City. The addition of top-notch amenities like this tennis center is an investment we can all be proud of.”

The 6,594-square-foot center will feature 15 tennis courts, four pickleball courts, locker rooms, a lounge, a learning area and a pro shop. One of the 15 tennis courts will serve as a championship competition court. The $11.5 million facility will accommodate youth and adult tennis programs for both instruction and competition.

Players of all skill levels can benefit from year-round tennis lessons and clinics through Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation. The new tennis center will offer state-of-the-art facilities for both practice and play. Individuals can learn more about youth and adult tennis lessons by visiting FCPR.us.

Construction of this new tennis center is supported by funding from the voter-approved 2016 Parks & Recreation Bond. Once completed in 2023, the tennis center will join 17 other FCPR improvements courtesy of the bond.
