Cumberland County Commissioners vote in Paschal to serve as Interim Manager

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners voted to hire Renee Paschal to serve as Interim County Manager during their regular meeting at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 17, in Room 118 of the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse. 

Paschal will serve as Interim County Manager following the retirement of current County Manager Amy Cannon on Dec. 1, 2022, until the Board hires a new manager. 

Paschal previously served as County Manager in Chatham County, where she worked for 25 years. After retiring from Chatham County, she worked part-time as Harnett County’s Budget Director from February 2019 until June 2021, where she established new capital and operating budget processes. 

Paschal holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She will begin working with Cannon and County staff in Nov. to prepare for the transition.
