Portillo’s professional responsibilities will include overseeing special programs such as Media Night, Cork & Fork, and the Car Show while bringing new, innovative ideas to the organization. “I am very excited to join the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival. I am grateful for my past experiences and lessons that have guided me down the path of who I am today,” Portillo said in a press release.
“Our organization is excited to have Armando on the team. This step is significant for future festivals as we are able to expand our programming and create new experiences for our community,” remarked Executive Director Sarahgrace Mitchell in a press release.
Portillo retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army Civil Affairs branch earlier this year. He is currently working on his bachelor's degree in Interaction and User Interface/User Experience Design and Google Project Management Certificate.
