FirstHealth welcomes Dr. Kim and Dr. Klotz to the team

FirstHealth continues to expand their team by adding two new faces.

Dr. Teddy Kim joins James Walker, M.D., and Cynthia Z. Africk, M.D., at FirstHealth Neurosurgery, and Oncologist Jeffrey Klotz, M.D., has joined FirstHealth Oncology & Hematology as part of the growing cancer care team.

Dr. Kim earned his bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, animal physiology/neuroscience and has a master’s degree in molecular biology from the University of California San Diego where he went on to earn his medical degree. He completed his residency in neurosurgery and a complex spine deformity fellowship in neurosurgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Both doctors said that they are passionate about the work that they do.

“I was attracted to neurosurgery because of the breadth of range the specialty covers,” shared Dr. Kim in a press release. “I am committed to providing quality care in all aspects of neurosurgery ranging from brain tumors to degenerative spinal disorders.”

Dr. Klotz earned his Doctor of Medicine from The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed an internal medicine residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and Darnall Army Community Hospital, and a hematology and oncology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Previously, Dr. Klotz worked at Scotland Cancer Treatment Center (Duke Cancer Network) in Laurinburg. Prior to that, he achieved the rank of colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps and was affiliated with Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

“Although many patients will survive their cancer diagnosis, patients with an incurable illness eventually tend to focus on what is most important in their lives, which is usually God and family. I consider it a great privilege to be able to take care of people at this most vulnerable time in their lives,” shared Dr. Klotz in a press release.
