Laboratory Supervisor at Moore Regional Hospital Gay Bethea recently received the Patriot Award, an award created by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense office, to publicly recognize individuals who provide remarkable support and cooperation to their fellow employees that serve in the nation’s military.

Bethea was nominated for the award by Rhiannon Spencer, an employee in the Moore Regional laboratory who also serves in the Army Reserve, for the support she provides Spencer as she answers the call to serve. The award also highlights the corporate culture at FirstHealth that has allowed Spencer and many other members of the Guard and Reserve to continue to serve our country.

“This is the best place I’ve ever worked, and I’ve never had a manager as supportive as Gay,”

said Spencer in a press release. “No matter how short the notice or how long the orders, Gay provides me understanding and support that allows me to dedicate my full attention to my military duty. She is an example of great leadership.”
