Hope Mills Area Chamber of Commerce to host meeting for potential board members

The Hope Mills Area Chamber of Commerce is looking to invite members of the community to learn what it’s like being a part of their team.
On Jan 26, 2023, the Chamber will host their first ever Open Board meeting at 5:30 p.m. at VFW Post 670 on Doc Bennett Rd.
The meeting will allow potential board members to see first hand what being a chamber board member entails. Chamber President Casey Ferris said things will kick off with a pseudo board meeting covering regular chamber business followed by a Q &A session to allow people to ask questions.
“I want people to get an idea of what being on the board entails, and we have a lot of people who ask like, ‘When you guys do your board meetings? If I wanted to join the board, what kind of responsibilities would that include? What do you guys do at a board meeting?’”’ said Ferris. “So this is kind of our goal, to eliminate all of those questions and kind of provide all the answers that we can.”
The chamber is looking to fill five open board positions as well as a few ex officio seats for anyone who would still like to lend their expertise, opinions and input in chamber operations.
Ferris, who owns her own marketing company, The Ferris Agency, testified that being a board member is also a great way to expand and grow businesses in the area.
“Being on the board for the Chamber of Commerce has 100 percent made my business. All of my customers that I have are people that I've met through chamber things. I got the idea to start my business at a chamber event you know, and that's one of the things we're going have our board members speak on,” said Ferris.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about the HMACC and joining its board.
“The Board of Directors is our policy making body and major force behind the HMACC. By joining our board, you become a part of what helps to shape and define the community’s economic development, growth and spirit,” said Ferris. “The experience of serving on the Chamber’s Board of Directors can be a satisfying and rewarding experience both professionally and personally.”
