The North Carolina Department of Transportation has proposed a pair of roundabouts in Harnett County.
NCDOT put four-way stops in place in 2018 as an interim measure, according to a recent press release, but a contract for the roundabouts is expected in the fall of 2022.
If the proposal goes through, the construction of the roundabouts would be at the junctions of Old Stage Road and Sheriff Johnson Road and at Old Stage Road and Leslie Campbell Avenue.
An additional safety measure that would be included in the project is a rerouted access point of Sheriff Johnson Road at North Carolina Highway 27.
The agency welcomes public comments by July 23.
Interested individuals can find more details about the plan on the NCDOT website.
Comments will be used to fine-tune the project and can be submitted through the website. People with feedback on the roundabout projects can also call 512-580-8850 and enter code 8739, send an email to OldStageRd-Harnett@PublicInput.com, or contact the project manager, Jason Hatfield, at 910-364-0603.
