The Tulsa Initiative, Inc. is hosting its first Tulsa C-Suite Series event this Wednesday, March 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the FSU Business Hub.

“The Tulsa initiative was really, birthed out of a need for mentorship, around entrepreneurship, for men of color,” shared Executive Director Qu’Derrick Covington.

The Tulsa Initiative has been operating in Maryland for a few years now, but they just moved into their Fayetteville office in February. Entrepreneurs that work with the Tulsa Initiative also have the opportunity to work with a local business mentor.

Covington shared that the Tulsa Initiative was invited to expand their efforts to Fayetteville to help engage young people and “to retain young people here in the city of Fayetteville.”

This event is designed to connect aspiring Black entrepreneurs and creatives to successful Black entrepreneurs and C-suite leaders. By collaborating with corporate and community partners, the event serves to inspire, educate, and equip the next generation of Black entrepreneurs with the resources and the network to pursue their passions.

The featured speaker will be Jahliel Thurman, National TV Talk Show Host of HBCU 101 on Aspire TV.

While the Tulsa Initiative primarily serves Black and Brown males ages 18-25, the C-Suite Series is open to the public and anyone is invited to attend the events.

“Our Tulsa C-Suite Series really came [about] because we wanted to expose and empower and engage young entrepreneurs all around the city, no matter their gender, [or] age. We wanted to create a safe space where entrepreneurs can come and hear [from] someone that went through that journey of being an early entrepreneur… and the struggles, the tribulations, the trials, but also the victories,” shared Covington.

This series will continue for the next four months with each event featuring a different speaker.

The event is free to attend and anyone is invited to attend.
