Fayetteville to celebrate National Procurement Week with events for local business owners and contractors

In celebration of National Procurement Month, the Fayetteville area will be hosting opportunities to connect business owners with new potential clients by hosting their own local Fayetteville- Cumberland Regional Procurement Week.

Business owners can attend a week's worth of events to learn more about doing business with major institutional purchasers in the area, such as the City of Fayetteville, Cumberland County, Fayetteville State University and Fayetteville’s Public Works Commission.

“Our goal, all four of us, is to keep the local dollar here instead of outsourcing these contracts with outside companies and other counties or other states,” shared director of the Fayetteville Cumberland Regional Entrepreneurial Business Hub Dr. Tamara Bryant.

Next week, March 27-30, there will be events held each day aimed at assisting local businesses, minority-owned businesses, subcontractors and general contractors with understanding how to do business with these entities.

The list of events are as follows:

Monday, March 27, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at 433 Hay Street

Kickoff Mix & Mingle - Mix and mingle with city, county and university purchasing managers to learn more about future Procurement opportunities.

Tuesday, March 28, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at 955 Old Wilmington Road

Small Business Vendor Readiness Workshops - Build your business’s capacity to meet purchasers.

Wednesday, March 29, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at 1073 Murchison Road

Small Business Vendor Readiness Workshops - Build your business’s capacity to bid work.

Thursday, March 30, at 1073 Murchison Road

Power of Purchasing Panel: 3:30.-4:15 p.m.
Meet the Purchasers Panel: 4:30.-5:15 p.m.
Purchase Marketplace: 5:30 -7:30 p.m.

The Purchase Marketplace event is a vendor fair for business owners to network with the major local purchasers. Attendees must bring business cards and capabilities statements.

Bryant said these events are free to participate in and are open to the public. Anyone in business and currently doing contract work looking to expand their market as well as anyone working in the private sector interested in learning about public procurement are encouraged to attend.

“This opportunity…is to help these local subcontractors, general contractors, minority-owned businesses, women-owned, veteran-owned businesses that want to do work with these large institutions. Here is your opportunity to really understand what that process is, what are some future opportunities to position your business to do the work here. Our goal again is to keep this dollar locally here because we know that once our dollar stays in this community it can help us to grow our community and help us have a better quality of life,” concluded Bryant.
