Beasley Media Group’s Fayetteville station WUKS-FM 107.7 JAMZ, known for playing throwback Hip Hop and R&B music has officially been rebranded, and began broadcasting under the new name 107.7 The Bounce as of Monday, March 20.
The JAMZ station had an audience of over 49,000 TSA adults ages 25 and up according to Neilson radio data.
The Bounce will provide upbeat music while trying to retain the JAMZ audience by bringing the new brand to the market for the first time.
“We've never really had in this market, especially in the Fayetteville market, a throwback station for Hip hop and R&B. We had to have one that centralizes most of the Hip Hop and R&B from 2005-2010 all the way down to 1995 that’s been in continuous rotation. We haven't had a station like that, that plays a format like that 24/7 in the market. So, it is very refreshing to hear that kind of music 24/7, because it's never really been done.” said Program Director and afternoon DJ personality Drocc.
The median age of the average JAMZ listener was 50 years old, with women being a majority of the audience totalling in at 54 percent according to Nielson data.
According to Drocc, the new brand will be targeting women between the ages of 20-50, but will be aiming to appeal to a wider audience to include men and children of all ages through the more upbeat music selection.
According to Fayetteville, NC and Augusta, GA Operations Manager Tee Gentry, the brand is the result of a need for refresh, with similar branding in other Beasley Media markets just as Agusta, GA and Las Vegas, NV that have seen success.
“We just thought it was time. I think JAMZ was a great station, it did well for us, but we're always looking to improve and we have this format and one of our stations in Detroit it's performing really well,” shared Gentry. “It’s a real proven station in our company. It's going to attract a lot of men and a lot of women too. That's a cool thing about the format. It brings everybody in that, you know, just wants to have a good time and feel good.”
The station will be on air 24/7. Listeners in the Greater Fayetteville region can turn on the Bounce on your radio dials at 107.7 and can also tune in online via streaming on 1077TheBounce.com or in the free Bounce mobile app.
