Sisters Ritika and Niki Shamdasani, creators of Sani, a South Asian clothing company, recently took to social media to announce that their clothes will now be sold by the popular chain Nordstrom.

“Nordstrom has always been one of our ideal partners because of the way our values align. When we mentioned that to one of our advisors, Andy Dunn (the founder of Bonobos), he recommended we make a TikTok video about Sani and why we should be in Nordstrom. He then emailed that video to Pete Nordstrom and the rest is history!” shared Niki Shamdasani.

The Fayetteville natives began their business in 2017. The mission of Sani according to their website is to authentically celebrate South Asian culture. Niki Shamdasani shared about her and her sister’s delight at the continued growth of their business and steps forward for their mission.

“It means so much to us and has been a huge part of why we exist from the beginning. Growing up I never thought I would be able to find clothes for Indian weddings at a big department store in the US and I'm so thrilled that now people can find these products at Nordstrom” said Niki.

Sani products are available on nordstrom.com and will also be available in select stores. Shoppers can find Sani items in person at Nordstrom in Tysons Corner, VA and Paramus, NJ.

Niki shared that she and her sister will be stopping in at both locations to celebrate. The Shamdasani sisters will be at the Tysons Corner location on Friday, April 14 and Saturday April 15 and will be at the store in Paramus the following week on Friday April 21 and Saturday April 22. She shared that they will do complimentary color customizations on the Nordstrom x Sani pieces and have a few surprises in store too.

Additionally, anyone interested in booking a one on one appointment can do so at https://calendly.com/sanisisters.

Niki shared that “The choice of those two stores was an intersection between our strong customer bases and Nordstrom’s. We look forward to expanding to more locations over time and all the pieces are available at Nordstrom.com.”

A strong support system and a dedicated work ethic have been key elements to the success of Sani.

“We’re lucky to have a very strong support system that includes our family. That’s been key for us to continue pushing forward through the inevitable challenges of running a business. Over time it’s about seeing those roadblocks as a natural sign that your business is progressing and growing. But sometimes it’s hard to think of challenges that way and we always try to remind ourselves that fear overestimates challenges and underestimates your ability to deal with them,” shared Niki.
