The Town of Hope Mills released the latest round of project updates in their Town Manager’s report released on Aug. 7 and now available online.
According to the update, commercial properties currently in the works include:
Wingstop: Building permits have been issued and the structure is currently under construction internally in the Shops on Main Development along Hope Mills Road.
Sheetz: Building permits have been issued and the project is currently under construction along Chickenfoot Road. Southern Oaks Animal Hospital: Plans have been approved with building permits issued. The new development is currently under construction at 5733 Rockfish Road.
Wawa Travel Center: Annexation has been approved and the initial zoning request to the C(P) district was recommended for approval by the Planning Board for development at 5840 Chickenfoot Road. The request is scheduled to be heard on August 21st by Hope Mills Board of Commissioners.
Culver's Burgers and Custards: Development review application has been filed for development at 3320 Camden Road. It is currently under review for zoning approval.
Valvoline Oil: Building permits have been issued and the development is under construction at 4310 Legion Road.
Residential projects currently in progress and in various stages include:
Preserve at Lake Upchurch: Construction of single family homes is in final phase of construction.
Pembroke Subdivision: Civil plans are under review in preparation of infrastructure construction at 4738 Blackbridge Road.
The One Apartments: Plans have been approved and the building permit has been issued for construction at 3680 Elk Road. According to their website, these builds are being handled by Benson Construction based out of Lumberton, NC. According to their website the apartments are “Currently under construction.” and will be a 264 Unit Apartment Complex featuring 1, 2, & 3 bedroom units in a “pet friendly community with exceptional amenities.”
Georgetown Estates: Residential construction still underway.
Sheffield Farms: Final phase under consideration of annexation. 5th phase nearing completion of single family residential.
Valley End Phase 3: Infrastructure plans are currently under review.
Town Projects also making progress include:
Heritage Park Phase I: RGA has completed the Archaeological Data Recovery Report and has submitted it to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for review. The Town is waiting for SHPO to approve the report and allow the Town to proceed with construction. Based on the findings of the report, RGA has recommended that the Town be released to begin construction. The Town is still awaiting official agreements and budgetary information related to the EPA grant HMPR received for the flume restoration project at Heritage Park.
Hope Mills Municipal Park Inclusive Playground and Splash Pad: The pour in place construction for the all inclusive playground is currently under construction. HMPR is currently working through the redlines and comments from Fayetteville PWC related to the public sanitary sewer and waterline connection for the splash pad. The Contractor is field verifying all information requested by PWC before McAdams revises the engineering plans for final approval. Infrastructure (driveways, parking, utilities), sports fields, concession building and service building improvements. A new recreation center Expanded trail routes/boardwalk trails Nature preserves Expansion of existing ponds Rockfish Creek access Storm water features Park amenities such as shelters and benches.
Hope Mills Municipal Skate Park: Parks and Recreation staff has been working with an interested party since January on the redevelopment of the Hope Mills Skate Park. Stay tuned for additional details and updates.
Hope Mills Sports Complex at Golfview: Hope Mills Parks & Recreation is currently implementing construction drawings related to concept option C, which was unanimously approved by the Hope Mills Board of Commissioners. This Phase of the Project Includes: Future Phases of the Park Include: In addition, the Park Master Plan also recommended that the baseball fields at Municipal Park be converted to soccer fields once sports fields are completed at Golfview.
While the public continues to speculate about a new hotel potentially being added to Golfview Rd, there was no mention of this project in the latest round of updates.
