Fayetteville State University announced Tuesday that Dr. Juanette Council would be the new vice chancellor for student affairs.
In the 30 years that Council has served students through the Division of Student Affairs at FSU, she has had many roles, to include associate vice chancellor and business manager, drug education and prevention coordinator, director of student activities and student center, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs, and as associate vice chancellor. In January of this year, she served as the interim vice chancellor at the school.
Through her efforts in her time at the university, Council has made a meaningful impact on not just students, but colleagues, Chancellor Darrell T. Allison explained in a press release.
“During her tenure, Dr. Council has demonstrated a true commitment to FSU and our students. She has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and continues to have a vision that supports the university’s mission and strategic goals,” Allison said. “Dr. Council has also gained the respect of her colleagues and garnered the admiration from both current and former students throughout her career. I could not have selected a better Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs than Dr. Juanette Council.”
The school’s provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, Dr. Monica T. Leach, welcomes Council into the new position as well. “I am excited to work alongside Council and her team as we integrate academic and student programs and enhance the co-curricular journey of our students,” Leach said.
