Downtown events help draw community back

As COVID-19 spread last year, governor-mandated closings, mask mandates and fear of catching the virus impacted businesses worldwide.

But in the ever-so resilient downtown Fayetteville area, businesses have recovered with the help of their supportive community, delightful products and services, and consumers, minds eased by readily available vaccinations, who are ready to be in the public once again.

As small businesses heal from the results of the pandemic, the downtown area has once again started to welcome events that draw people community-wide and even from across the state into Fayetteville.

Fayetteville After Five
Healy Wholesale Co. Inc., Cumberland Tractor Kubota of Fayetteville, Beasley Media Group, Inc., ABC11 and Up & Coming Weekly proudly sponsor this ongoing musical event. On every second Friday of the month, Fayetteville After Five, held by the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival, starts up in Festival Park with gates opening at 5 p.m.
Fayetteville After Five has local musicians and food trucks at each event. The Aug. 13 event will feature musical guests The Chris Cox Band and Liquid Pleasure. Food trucks include Big Chiefs, Hot Dog Central, Jam Ice Cream, Kona Ice, Dee’s Island Cuisine and Chrison’s Cuisine.

Downtown Summer Nights
Produced by Cumulus Media, Downtown Summer Nights is back every Thursday through Sept. 9 on Maxwell Street.
The event has food, beer and wine available for purchase.

Local businesses sponsoring Downtown Summer Nights include Cool Spring Downtown District, Healy Wholesale Co. Inc., Boone Trail Fit Body Boot Camp, Cityview Magazine, Cumberland Tractor Kubota of Fayetteville, Cape Fear Valley Health, Cumulus Radio Station Group, Magic 106.9, Q98, and WFNC AM640.

Fayetteville Dogwood Fall Festival
Details are still continuing to unfold about this year’s Fayetteville Dogwood Fall Festival, but it will grace the streets of downtown Fayetteville once again on October 15. Featuring hayrides, activities for children, a car and motorcycle show, food and drink vendors and more, the Festival has announced sponsorship opportunities. 4th Friday
Cool Spring Downtown District’s 4th Friday is back, featuring local vendors, food carts and trucks, a beer garden, live performances, and artists.
