The City of Fayetteville’s Development Services Department is hosting ‘Wednesday Open Office Hours’ for builders seeking assistance through the project cycle starting Oct. 18 at 8:30 a.m. in City Hall, 433 Hay St.

The open office hours are scheduled bi-weekly to provide developers and residents an opportunity to meet with city staff and find answers to questions related to specific projects. Participants can receive assistance from the beginning stages of the process with the online development portal.

“We know that issues can come up after permits are issued on site development and during construction that were not expected,” said Director of Development Service Dr. Gerald Newton in a press release. “We want to help our development partners in solving those issues early and before they become timely, cause delays or increase costs of development.”

Development Services is proactively creating solutions to frequent requests for training or in-person assistance from builders, small businesses and homeowners developing new or existing properties in Fayetteville. The open office hours serve to inspire long-range planning and collaboration between the City and developers with prospective projects. This is in addition to the weekly Technical Review Committee and daily interactions held one-on-one with their development partners.

“We already are helping our partners daily but mainly on construction issues and inspections. This is another opportunity for those involved in new projects and redevelopment in the City of Fayetteville to be able to meet and talk with those involved in the project's eventual approvals and opening,” said Newton in a press release.

The Development Services Department, which includes planning, zoning, building & trade inspections, plan reviews and some code enforcement on private properties, is using the open office hours to listen and address concerns, and increase understanding of its processes to prevent project setbacks or compliance issues.

Interested builders can register in advance by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/r/WednesdayOpenOfficeHours, but it is not required.
