Cape Fear Valley Health receives Breast Care Center Accreditation

The Breast Care Center at Cape Fear Valley Health has recently been re-accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) through the American College of Surgeons.

“In our survey, we were compliant in 100 percent of the standards,” said Medical Director for the Cape Fear Valley Breast Center Elizabeth Sawyer, MD, FACS in a press release. “We are very proud to maintain this important accreditation, which is a testament to the excellent care provided by all of the staff in our breast cancer program. Patients having the trust in us to provide world-class breast care in the comfort of their own hometown is validated through a nationally recognized accreditation program such as the NAPBC.  We look forward to the future and are dedicated to maintaining excellence in breast cancer care.”

The accreditation is for three years. Cape Fear Valley Breast Care Center originally received accreditation in 2010 and has been reaccredited every three years since. 

“The inherent multi-disciplinary nature of this accreditation recognizes and validates the exceptional teamwork within and between different disciplines of the health system,” said Kanwar Singh, Executive Corporate Director of Oncology Services at Cape Fear Valley Health, in a press release. “That includes surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, specialists focused on genetic counseling, patient navigation, psycho-social support, access to clinical trials and every other team member who interacts with a patient’s diagnosis and treatment.”
