Fayetteville Technical Community College has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation, the non-profit established by Gene Haas, founder of machine tool building industry giant Haas Automation, Inc.

FTCC Computer-Integrated Machining Department Chair Kevin Henry was notified of the grant on Oct. 3.

The money will go primarily to student scholarships, including the cost of tuition, books and small personal tools required for machining courses; although, up to $2,500 of it can be used to support students who enter in a machining competition, such as SkillsUSA.

The Gene Haas Foundation was established in 1999, by Gene Haas, founder and owner of Haas Automation, Inc., to support the needs of the local community, through grants to such local charities as the Boys and Girls Clubs, Food Share, Rescue Mission, and others.

FTCC received a grant of equal amount from the Gene Haas Foundation in 2022.
