When the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County’s leadership first set aside a small budget for an annual Mini Grants Program in 2019, they had no idea the program would grow to the magnitude and impact it now has in 2023.

Michael Houck, the Arts Council’s Director of Grants & Allocations, believes it was the artists and small nonprofit organizations’ collective struggle during the pandemic that proved the need to grow the Mini Grants Program and validated its worth to the Cumberland County community.

From its first-time budget of about $5,000 to now an annual budget of $150,000, the Arts Council has quickly responded to the growing demand for these grants and now offers them on a quarterly basis to not just individual artists, but also to nonprofit organizations, municipal entities and institutions of higher education.

For first quarter FY24, the Arts Council has awarded a total of $29,375 dollars in Mini Grants to four nonprofit organizations and nine individual artists in Cumberland County. These grantees include the following.
