Lumbee Guaranty Bank officials said Tuesday that it has made a $25,000 pledge that will be used toward the Scotland Memorial Foundation’s new medical facility in Pembroke.
The Scotland Health Care System’s plans include a “state-of-the-art, 12,000-square-foot medical office building that will house the Pembroke Family Practice Center, an Urgent Care, and an expanded retail pharmacy.”
“We understand the importance of making access to quality healthcare readily available for  the residents of Pembroke and western Robeson County,” said Kyle R. Chavis, CEO of Lumbee  Guaranty Bank. “And our Board of Directors believes our contribution is a worthy investment that  will have profound and longstanding benefits for our community.”
A prepared statement from Lumbee Guaranty Bank outlined some details that the public will see, including patient access to quality primary care, as well as comprehensive imaging and laboratory services. The new facility will be adjacent to Scotland Health Care's specialty services clinic.
“I want to thank Lumbee Guaranty Bank for making our first naming opportunity donation,” said Kirsten Dean, executive director of the Scotland Memorial Foundation. “In honor of their generous $25,000 gift, the break room at our beautiful new facility will be named for the Bank.”
Tuesday’s press release stated that “Lumbee Guaranty Bank is proud to support projects and institutions in key sectors, including health care and education, that enhance quality of life for  residents throughout their service area.
The bank was founded in 1971 and is marking its 50th year as an independent community bank, serving customers in Robeson, Cumberland and Hoke counties.
“Headquartered in Pembroke, the Bank has 14 offices throughout the area, providing a full range of services including checking/savings accounts, certificates of deposit, mortgage/home equity loans, auto and personal loans, business/commercial loans, investment services, and secure electronic banking,” according to the press statement released on Tuesday.
The bank's downtown Fayetteville location is its newest location.
