Cape Fear Valley to host hiring event Wednesday

Cape Fear Valley is hosting a special hiring event for applicants who are looking for a paid opportunity to work and train to start their healthcare career. This event will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Auditorium, Rooms A and D. The Rehabilitation Auditorium is located on the back side of the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center campus off of Owen Drive in Fayetteville.

The health system is looking for employees to join the CNA I program, which includes paid on-the-job training starting at $14 an hour. While working as comfort runners, the employees in the CNA I program receive their 15-week CNA I training for free.  Books, uniforms and testing fees are all included in the program.

“This is a really good opportunity for people who are looking to get into healthcare, but don’t think they have the resources to get started on their own,” said Talent Acquisition Executive BA Ward in a press release. “Upon graduation of the program and full-time employment as an NA1, we’re offering an excellent benefits package. Cape Fear Valley is creating pathways for its employees and free training is just the start.”

Applicants must be high school graduates or GED recipients, commit to a 20-hour weekly work schedule (Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and fulfill a one-year employment commitment upon completing the training course and becoming certified.

More scholarships and tuition assistance programs are also available for CNAs to continue their education.
