Tulsa Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy announces 2023 Pitch Competition winners

The Tulsa Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy (TLEA) proudly announces the outstanding success of two young entrepreneurs who matriculated through its 13-week program. The winners, Justin Pruitt and Jaelan Rainey, showcased their innovative business ideas at the Tulsa Initiative Gala and Pitch Competition held on Dec. 2, 2023, in Fayetteville, NC.

Justin Pruitt

Justin Pruitt, a 19-year-old holistic spiritual healer, leader, and star student athlete attending Fayetteville State University, emerged as a co-winner of the Tulsa Initiative Pitch Competition. Majoring in Business Marketing with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, Justin founded "The Juice," his own business brand. Specializing in organic and chemical-free products that prioritize environmental safety, Justin began advertising on campus thirteen months ago. Within this short period, he achieved remarkable success, making over 500+ sales and securing placement in three local stores.

Justin's purpose extends beyond entrepreneurship; he aims to heal, uplift, and inspire. His passion serves himself, but his purpose, he believes, serves the world. Justin's authentic approach to business and life aligns with his philosophy: "Always be your most authentic self. The most genuine, real, and pure will always win in the end."

Jaelan Rainey

The second co-winner, Jaelan Rainey, is a 20-year-old full-time Junior student at Methodist University, majoring in Accounting and minoring in Business Administration. Jaelan is also an initiate of the Phi Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated since Spring '23. Initially uncertain about his career path, Jaelan chose Methodist University to continue his passion for football. However, he harbored a deep desire to make a positive impact in the world and leave a lasting footprint.

Jaelan's philanthropic goals are rooted in his recognition of the disparities in opportunities and resources for children. Inspired by his supportive upbringing, he aspires to use his platform to guide and inspire less fortunate children, showing them that hard work and dedication can overcome any obstacles.

Both winners exemplify the TLEA's mission of empowering BIPOC individuals in entrepreneurship, mentorship, and education. The Gala and Pitch Competition served as a culmination of their 13-week journey, highlighting the significant impact the TLEA has on fostering talent and innovation. The Tulsa Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy extends its heartfelt congratulations to Justin Pruitt and Jaelan Rainey for their remarkable achievements.
