Pinehurst Police Chief recognizes outstanding community members

The Pinehurst Police Department recently held its annual holiday dinner and recognition ceremony to highlight accomplishments in 2023.

Police Chief Glen Webb recognized officers for professional achievements, milestones, and awarded the Police Officer of the Year to Officer Samantha York.

"Pinehurst has always been one of the safest cities in North Carolina. That designation is intentional due to the hard work of crime fighters like Officer York," said Webb in a press release. "We have a lot of talent here and choosing an officer of the year is always difficult. However, Samantha has done an outstanding job, and we are very proud of her."

Telecommunicator Greg Currie was also recognized as the Civilian of the Year.

"Greg's professionalism, competence, and willingness to go above and beyond make him indispensable to the Pinehurst Police Department,” Webb said in a press release. “Greg has earned the trust of his coworkers (sworn and non-sworn) and the public. We are fortunate to have him in our communications center."

Lieutenant Mike Tew was also recognized for his service as he was awarded the Old North State Award, signed by Governor Cooper in acknowledgment of his 25 years of service and recent retirement from Law Enforcement.
