The NC Technology Association (NC TECH) has unveiled its latest update on the state's IT job landscape through its new IT Job Trends Dashboard. This resource provides a detailed breakdown of IT positions across North Carolina, highlighting key insights such as top postings by Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), job titles, required skills and certifications, experience levels, wage trends, and top hiring companies.
According to NC TECH’s update for January, Fayetteville reported 347 unique IT job postings for the month of January. Pinehurst-Southern Pines reported 38 unique IT job postings for January.
“IT job posting figures have remained fairly stable for the past five months with a welcomed uptick to start 2024,” stated Andrea Fleming, Director of Talent and Workforce Development at NC TECH, in a press release. “That's a good sign after the downward trends for almost all of last year.” Fleming further emphasized in a press release, “Tech job postings have gone through quite a reset post-COVID and it remains to be seen where they will head for 2024, but they're off to a good start.”
The state is well positioned to continue growth in both the tech sector and in tech occupations. NC TECH recently released the 10th edition of the NC State of the Technology Industry Report. According to the report, North Carolina is in the top tier of states in more than 30 categories. Tech industry employment growth ranked #13 out of the 50 states at a rate of 19 percent between 2017 and 2022.
