Fans of the uniquely decorated and mystifying hobby shop Garnet Skull will be finding their oddities in a new location come March 2024.
Owners announced on social media that the staff and crew will be moving on from their current location at 220 Hay St. to their new location located less than one minute up the street at 120 Hay St.
After having their current spot for the last two years, Garnet Skull Co-Owner Nik Badolato explained that he and other Co-Owner Cheyenne Badolato were originally eyeing the new location’s area before they settled in at 220 Hay St. Now, they’re seizing the real estate opportunity by relocating.
“It’s a much nicer building as far as inside and outside goes. It’s really in a perfect location with Gaston right next door and Southern Pines Brewery opening up right across the street, it kind of puts us more in that area we were looking in to begin with,” shared Badolato. “We walked around and checked out the place and it’s really a beautiful location. Plus, the ceiling and everything inside is much higher and with us carrying all the taxidermy that we do, it makes more sense.”
Nik shared that the store is operating as usual until the first week of March. Following that, he estimates the store will be fully closed for about a week while the relocation takes place.
A soft opening is currently planned in the new location for mid- March while updates and changes are being made to the space to match the Garnet Skull aesthetic.
“Me and Cheyenne both really enjoy being a part of the downtown community. It's been very supportive with the other business owners, we have a good relationship with a lot of them and it has that homey feel and that historic feel. And the historic portion of it is what really draws us to it,” shared Nik.
An official grand opening will be announced once the new location is complete.
