Fayetteville Habitat for Humanity launches Women's Build 2024

By Staff Report, posted Mar 1, 2024 on BizFayetteville.com

The Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity is looking to educate and empower women by teaching them skills in construction by launching their “Women’s Build 2024: Empowering Women, Building Homes” event.

Women’s Build 2024 is set to inspire and empower women with two days of skill-building classes on March 14-15, followed by a volunteer day on March 16 to construct a future woman-owned home.

Hosted by Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH) at 733 Bargain Street, this event offers practical workshops on home repair and construction, culminating in a hands-on volunteer construction opportunity at a Habitat construction site.

Participants will learn how to carry out common home repairs and build an Adirondack chair during the classes, which run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Tickets are $30 and include lunch and a commemorative T-shirt. Space is limited.

Interested individuals are encouraged to call 910-483-0952 to reserve their spots. Experience in construction is not required to participate and all are welcome to attend.

“We’re excited to empower women through education and hands-on experience,” said Rick Callaway, the COO for FAHFH in a press release. “Women’s Build 2024 is about more than just building homes, it’s about building confidence and community.”
