FSU’s Chancellor Darrell T. Allison celebrates third year in office; Highlights real estate developments and other accomplishments during term

Fayetteville State University's Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Darrell T. Allison is celebrating his third year in the position. In a statement released by the University on March 18, Chancellor Allison spoke on some of the development goals achieved during his term.

With the adoption of FSU’s 10 -Year Campus Plan, building has begun - or has been approved on- a number of facilities and new additions to the campus including a Starbucks location coming to the Promenade in August of 2024, a Wellness Zone coming to The Gateway District coming in Fall of 2025 and a new Chick- fil- A location coming to Bronco Midtown in July of 2024.

These additions to the campus and more had funding contributed by the state of North Carolina. FSU received more than $210 million from the state according to Chancellor Allison who went on to thank them in his address.

“This funding has launched a multitude of projects, including the construction of a new College of Education, a new residential hall and a health and wellness center, to name a few. You literally see multiple construction sites and cranes when walking across our campus today, signs of renewal that instill hope for a strong future in our students, faculty, staff and alumni,” shared Chancellor Allison. “I don’t take this lightly and I humbly thank campus leadership and that of our leaders at the UNC System and state legislature. FSU will make good on the millions of dollars invested, as we, collectively, move this university forward.”

Other expansion and renovation goals included in the Master Plan are:

An arts neighborhood which includes two building renovations, an outdoor performance space and an outdoor makerspace and gallery.
The highly anticipated College of Education project is also outlined and will include new buildings, renovations, landscape improvements and an academic plaza coming in Spring of 2026.

An early childhood education center;
And further expansion into the City of Fayetteville including Murchison Road improvements.

While looking to the future, Chancellor Allison also took time to highlight the growth already happening at FSU as well as the impact to the surrounding area.

“The development of the Fayetteville-Cumberland Regional Entrepreneurship and Business Hub is boosting the regional economy and making a tremendous impact on small business owners who are utilizing the space to get certified and trained in government contracts, bid opportunities and more,” shared Allison. “The HUB services 10-counties, including Cumberland County and in 2023 served more than 5,000 participants. The HUB has successfully helped to launch 54 new businesses that created 250 new jobs which included minority and women owned businesses, Veteran-owned businesses and small businesses within the targeted region and secured more than $30 million dollars in contracts.”
