Honeycutt Road in Cumberland County requires temporary closure

A portion of Honeycutt Road southeast of Spring Lake will temporarily close for drainage improvements.

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the road to thru-traffic halfway between McArthur and Murchison roads near Texas Pond. Crews will replace a drainage culvert with a larger pipe underneath the pavement.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. April 8 and last through most of May.

While closed, drivers should take Interstate 295 between the Murchison Road and McArthur Road exits. They should be mindful of the longer route for their commute, and approach the work site with caution.
