Cutting edge achievement: Luther Nick Jeralds Middle Schoolers lead Cumberland County Schools in cosmetology & barbering

Students at Luther Nick Jeralds Middle School (LNJMS) have been recognized for their outstanding exploration of fundamental concepts in cosmetology and barbering. The students honed their skills through the Cosmetology & Barbering module offered by Paxton-Patterson College & Career Ready Labs.

The Paxton-Patterson College & Career Ready Labs, available district-wide, offer a comprehensive approach to education, blending academic knowledge with practical skills crucial in today's workforce. According to their teacher, Laverne Godfrey-Jones, these students are pioneers, being the first in Cumberland County Schools (CCS) to complete the Cosmetology & Barbering module. To qualify for recognition, students completed 10 Cosmetology & Barbering modules, participated in Esthetician Professional Development provided through the Dream Job Webinar Series by Rubin Education, attended the CTE Career Fair and provided five in-person services to clients while exemplifying professionalism.

The awards ceremony concluded with CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., encouraging students to continue striving for excellence in their educational and career pursuits. Dr. Connelly expressed his admiration for the students' achievements.
