Fayetteville welcomes a surge of visitors as the U.S. Open draws a crowd

As golfers and fans from around the world gather in Pinehurst for the long-anticipated U.S Open, Fayetteville and the surrounding communities are also making their own preparations for the increased number of guests.

DistiNCtly Fayetteville's Director of Marketing Melody Foote provided some insights into the accommodations Fayetteville is offering travelers who have journeyed to enjoy this popular sporting event.

“While we don't know the exact number of people staying with us for the U.S. Open, many of our hotels have limited availability this weekend,” explained Foote.

Distinctly Fayetteville is providing shuttles to the US Open from the Embassy Suites and the Doubletree hotels by Hilton from Thursday, June 13, through Sunday, June 16th. These hotels were selected because they are within larger pockets of hotels in the community. Registered guests at any of Cumberland County’s hotel properties are welcome to utilize the shuttle service.

Shuttles depart the hotels promptly at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m. and return from Pinehurst at 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m. Apart from the 8 p.m. return time, the departure times from Pinehurst may be affected by traffic.

All hotels can register their guests for the next day’s shuttle service. Hotels should contact DistiNCtly Fayetteville at 910-483-5311 to access the spreadsheet to register their guests.

Foote also shared that last fall DistiNCtly Fayetteville developed a US Open Microsite to encourage visitors to stay in town and to provide guests with resources to explore the community after tournament hours. That site can be viewed here.

Today is Round 1 of the 2024 U.S. Open in Pinehurst and Fayetteville is glad to welcome so many guests to our area.
