The Tulsa Initiative Inc has been awarded an $8,100.00 grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County and the North Carolina Arts Council. This grant will support Tulsa Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy, furthering The Tulsa Initiative Inc’s mission to introduce Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) to entrepreneurship, mentorship and education to unite and invest in themselves and their communities.

The grant, which is part of Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County and North Carolina Arts Council’s 2024-2025 Project Support Grant, will enable The Tulsa Initiative Inc’s Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy (TLEA), a transformative 13-week program designed to empower BIPOC individuals in their entrepreneurial journey. Through a comprehensive curriculum, participants are equipped with essential skills and knowledge across various aspects of entrepreneurship.

“This grant will have a significant impact on our commitment to fostering an environment of support, empowerment, and opportunities for BIPOC entrepreneurs,” said Qu’Derrick Covington, Executive Director of The Tulsa Initiative Inc in a press release. “We are grateful to [The] Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County for their support and confidence in our work. With this funding, we are integrating art-based activities, workshops, and discussions tailored to the needs and interests of aspiring entrepreneurs. Through hands-on opportunities for artistic expression and collaboration, participants explore the intersection of creativity and entrepreneurship, discovering new ways to solve problems and bring their ideas to life.”
