The fifth annual Sampson County Job Fair will be held outdoors on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The fifth annual Sampson County Job Fair will be held outdoors on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the City Market in downtown Clinton from 9 a.m. to noon.

“Job opportunities will be represented from within business and industry, local government, and education,” said Stephen Barrington, executive director of Sampson County Economic Development. “At least 13 companies and organizations will be on site, though over 20 companies will be represented as Temporary Connections, a staffing company, will represent nine unique clients.”

Some of the companies and organizations at the job fair will include City of Clinton and their public works and police, Crumpler Plastic Pipe, Hog Slat, Murphy Family Ventures, Parker Gas Company, Personal Touch Home Care Services, Prestage Farms, Sampson County Health Department, Sampson County Schools, Sampson Regional Medical Center, Smithfield Foods, Temporary Connections and more.

“Our focus for hosting this event is simple: to provide a place and opportunity in which employers can meet local and regional job seekers who are ready to go to work,” Barrington mentioned. “The event is a job fair in that participating employers have jobs available today, in which they are seeking to fill.”

The fair is expecting several hundred job seekers this year. The organizers are excited to host the event again after it was cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

“We encourage job seekers to do their own research on jobs available at participating companies and organizations prior to the event,” he said.

Job seekers are advised to bring multiple copies of their resume to the event and complete applications online ahead of the event day for the roles they are interested in.

“Our office has never heard from so many employers, large and small, as we have over the last year per their workforce and hiring challenges,” Barrington said. “We know such challenges do not reside in Sampson County alone and are being felt across the country.”

The event is open to the public. For more information about the Job Fair, visit  http://sampsonedc.com/jobfair/.
