Commissioner Faircloth appointed to NACo Rural Action Caucus

Cumberland County Commissioner W. Marshall Faircloth has been appointed to serve on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Rural Action Caucus.

In a letter informing him of his appointment, NACo President James Gore wrote that Commissioner Faircloth was selected “because of your commitment and dedication to NACo. Our strength is in our members and your active involvement and leadership ensures that we continue to be the voice of America’s counties.”

As a member of the Rural Action Caucus, Commissioner Faircloth will participate in meetings including the NACo Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. in March 2025. Learn more about NACo at NACo.org.

“I am honored to be appointed to the NACo Rural Action Caucus and to have the opportunity to

represent Cumberland County on a national level,” said Commissioner Faircloth in a press release. “This appointment allows me to advocate for the unique needs and challenges faced by rural communities across our state and country.”

In addition to this appointment, Commissioner Faircloth serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) and as chair of NCACC’s Tax and Finance Committee. 

Commissioner Faircloth was elected an at-large member of the Cumberland County Board of

Commissioners in 2022. He previously served on the Board of Commissioners from 1992 to 1996, and from 2008 to 2020. Commissioner Faircloth has served as the Board’s vice chairman four times and as chairman three times. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked in public accounting and financial consulting in Fayetteville since 1972.
