FAST to adjust service on three routes; now hiring transit drivers

The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) will be changing the frequency of stops on three routes starting Sept. 9. The schedule changes are being made due to a shortage of transit drivers. 

The following routes will run on the hour, Monday through Friday, versus the current service of every 30 minutes:  

The three routes currently run every hour on weekends.  

FAST is actively seeking new bus drivers to fill the vacancies. These positions require a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions. FAST is also hiring Transit Operator Trainees. Applicants will be sent to Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) to get their CDL and endorsements. 

FAST employs 60 Commercial Driver Licensed operators and 17 non-CDL operators who provide service to more than 6,000 daily customers getting them access to jobs, medical facilities, shopping and recreation opportunities.
