Coming in Clutch: New coffee bar hitting Ramsey Street Sept. 21

A new drive-through coffee brand is making its way into Fayetteville with its first location opening soon.
Clutch Coffee Bar is the newest coffee option moving into the area. Identifying itself as a “customer-centric company that is redefining the drive-thru beverage experience,” their first Fayetteville location is currently under construction at 3619 Ramsey St.
Clutch was born in the Carolinas in 2018 and has more than 20 years of drive-thru coffee experience. That experience, combined with a “burning desire to revitalize the lost art of customer service,” has led to a recognizable drive through and walk up coffee bar brand that now has a total of 12 locations across North and South Carolina.
“Fayetteville is growing considerably, and for our business, you have a lot of driving traffic; people that are going in and around town and on and off of base on a daily basis. We felt pretty confident that, at least for drive throughs, it is usually pretty healthy in Fayetteville relative to other areas,” shared Clutch Coffee Bar Co-Founder and CEO Darren Spicer. “So that excited us, and the fact that we have really long hours. We're open from 5 a.m. until at least 9 p.m. every day. And I think that hopefully will help serve a community that might have different hours than others.”
Clutch Coffee Bar features an expansive menu all made to order with the option to be customized to the taste of each customer. The Clutch menu features mochas (made with chocolate milk instead of chocolate sauce), lattes, energy drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, teas and signature refreshers and juices. The community will also be introduced to Clutch's signature “Muscle Mocha” which includes their signature chocolate protein shake infused with two shots of espresso and served either iced or blended.
“Our goal is to have something for everybody. For the coffee aficionados, I would put the quality of our espresso up against anybody. We work with an award winning roaster out of Washington State, and they are dynamite,” shared Spicer. “The energy drinks are super popular because they're very customizable. You can add or remove different flavors, you can do an ice version or a blended version as well. And then beyond that, our juices and smoothies are 100% no sugar added. We wanted to be really clean on that.”
The Ramsey Street location is the first of two planned for the city. The brand has its sights set on a second location in the downtown area but, for now, is focusing on a grand opening scheduled for Sept. 21 to introduce the Clutch brand to the people of Fayetteville. A soft opening has been planned for Sept. 19, but the main event will take place during the grand opening two days later.
“I'd love for people to come by on that Thursday and Friday to check us out in advance. It gives our crew a chance to get some wide reps,” shared Spicer. “Saturday will be crazy. On the 21st when we open, we are doing free small drinks all day. We just opened up in Boiling Springs two weeks ago, and I think we served 2500 free drinks that day.”
