Cumberland County Emergency Services announces a transition in fire protection services for the Manchester Fire District, effective today, Sept. 19, 2024. This proactive response follows the Town of Spring Lake's decision to discontinue its fire protection services for the district, which includes areas outside of Spring Lake's jurisdiction, in unincorporated Cumberland County bordered by Harnett County and Fort Liberty.
“The safety and well-being of residents is our number one priority,” said County Manager Clarence Grier in a press release. “We appreciate the community’s understanding during this transition period. In light of this recent change, county officials have been working diligently with surrounding fire departments to ensure that the district continues to receive uninterrupted fire protection services. Cumberland County is committed to continued top-notch emergency services and ensuring the safety of all our residents.”
As of today, the Westarea Fire Department is responsible for providing fire protection for the Manchester Fire District. This strategic partnership aims to maintain high standards of safety and emergency response for all residents in the area.
