The Wine Café and The Coffee Cup to host final event before closing

By Keyuri Parab, posted Sep 24, 2021 on BizFayetteville.com

A popular local wine bar and a coffee shop, The Wine Café and The Coffee Cup, owned by Angie Malave, will close their doors on Sept. 30.

Located at 106 and 108 Hay St, the wine bar opened in 2011 followed by the coffee shop in 2015 bringing a variety of wine and coffee as well as tapas events to the community.

The owner made the announcement on the cafe’s social media pages on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

“I just want to say thank you to the community for being wonderful to me, to the business and to the team, and I pray they are blessed in the same ways that they have blessed me in these past 10 years,” Malave said.

The cafe will host its last event, ‘One last wine and jazz night at the wine cafe’ for the public tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., where customers can pour their wine and enjoy live music, she said.

“If you know me well, I am sure you will understand this was not an easy decision, but after giving it all to my shops for 10 years, The Wine Café & The Coffee Cup, will close their doors for the last time this September the 30th,” Malave said in her post. “Being 2021 such a tough year (probably the toughest since I have been in business) and me feeling physically and mentally exhausted, I feel like I need to take my life back and get into a slower pace.”

Malave said she has no business plans in the future but wants to focus on slowing down.

“The retail space will be open to rent, and there’s talk of who will move in, but I can’t disclose that,” she added.
