Westwood shopping center brunch spot announces closure

The Friends Table logo pulled form their Facebook page.

After three years of serving the Fayetteville community and moving between two locations, The Friends Table has announced they will be closing down their store located in Suite 253 in the Westwood Shopping Center.

The news was announced on Thursday, Nov. 28 through a Facebook post that reads:

“The Friends Table: Closing Our Chapter at Westwood

To our cherished Friends Table family,

After so many unforgettable memories, laughs, and meals shared at Westwood Shopping Center, the time has come for us to close this chapter. Our hearts are full of gratitude for every moment spent together — from the warm embraces at the door to the joy we’ve shared over our signature dishes.

This is not goodbye but a heartfelt thank you. Thank you for supporting us, believing in us, and making The Friends Table a home away from home. As we move forward, we carry the love of this community with us and hope to continue serving you in new and exciting ways.

Stay tuned for what’s next — our story is far from over.

The final weekend for the restaurant took place between Nov. 29 - Dec. 1.

The restaurant was known for its brunch menu which included things like fried deviled eggs, bacon wrapped salmon, honey butter croissants, specialty mimosas and more.

Started as a group of friends enjoying a meal together, The Friends Table blossomed into a business bringing “upscale comfort food” to downtown Fayetteville in 2021.

The Friends Table was started by Co-owners, Portia Grady and Mahalia Robinson, who had their start as caterers in the community with the desire to create a sit-down experience. The pair opened their first location within what was previously known as the Systel Building at 225 Green St. in downtown Fayetteville in October of 2021.

The restaurant would later relocate to a new spot in the Westwood Shopping Center in the summer of 2023. The new location was meant to allow them to seat larger crowds and serve more customers and the larger kitchen space allowed them to expand their menu.

The new location had previously served as the home of the Fayetteville Pie Shop, another specialty restaurant, where it remained until the announcement of its closure.

The GFBJ reached out to The Friends Table leadership for comment, but did not receive a response.
