2025 Community Award nominations are now open

The Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission has opened nominations for the 2025 Community Awards. They’re seeking out residents and local organizations who are committed to the well-being of others and spreading positive human relations throughout the city and Cumberland County.

There are nine awards based on diverse categories. These categories include youth, individual, lifetime achievement, humanitarian, industry or business, educator, military, religious leader and organization. Nomination forms can be found at FayettevilleNC.gov/HumanRelations.

Nominations must be submitted by Jan. 10, 2025.

“The community awards are the perfect opportunity to recognize those who are making a difference in our community,” said Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director Yamile Nazar in a press release. “Whether it’s through acts of kindness, leadership, volunteerism or innovation, each recipient has left a positive impact on the residents.”

Award winners will be celebrated at the Annual Community Recognition Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, located at 536 N. Eastern Blvd. in Fayetteville. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Dec. 23 for $35, and can be purchased at the Human Relations Office located at 225 Ray Ave, Suite 100 in Fayetteville from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets must be purchased by Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025.

The funds raised from the Community Awards will support the Human Relations Scholarships for high school seniors who aspire to attend higher education.
