On Friday, Jan. 3, the grand reopening of Daddy Mac's Country Kitchen and Seafood was celebrated, with the owner, Willie McCaskill, expressing gratitude for community support. The restaurant, located at 6065 Turnpike Road in Raeford, was started in 2017 but faced challenges during COVID-19 and temporarily closed. Willie and his wife also run Jamaican Flava Food Truck which they opened in 2019, but with the community growing and the local economy bouncing back they were ready to reopen their brick-and-mortar location as well.

“I'm excited. This community around us is growing...And I just want to be a part of this community. And so I thank you all for coming out and continue to support us,” shared Mr. Willie at the ribbon cutting.

The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including country cooking, seafood and Jamaican cuisine.

“I've been in the seafood business for years, and my wife is from Jamaica, so we added the Jamaican menu. So we specialize in country cooking, seafood, fish, chicken, barbecue; then we have oxtails, jerk chicken, curry chicken, so we want to have a variety. We [also] have lunch specials. [We] just want to serve the community,” remarked Mr. Willie.

Initially, the restaurant will be open Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with hopes to expand hours and host some events as well.
