The Village of Pinehurst will begin working on improvements to the Magnolia and Chinquapin intersection area on Monday, Feb. 10. The work includes converting the intersection to a 4-way stop, stormwater improvements and creating new parallel parking spaces. The work is expected to take four to six weeks (weather dependent).
“Improving the intersection of Magnolia Road and Chinquapin Road is a vital step toward ensuring safer entry into the Village for all—whether on foot, in a golf cart or behind the wheel,” said Assistant Village Manager Carlton Cole in a press release. “This work reflects our commitment to a community where pedestrians and drivers can coexist safely and smoothly.”
Contractors will make efforts to limit inconveniences; however, village staff reminds residents to be aware while navigating the downtown area and expect road closures while the construction is underway.
“To complete the job safely, contractors will have partial closures at the intersection of Magnolia and Chinquapin roads,” added Cole in a press release. “Please familiarize yourself with alternative routes into the Village until the work is complete.”
