Strike to End Alzheimer’s, a fundraiser for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is looking for community members to sign up for the event happening Monday, Oct. 18 from 1-4 p.m.

The Greater Fayetteville Chamber and the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau have partnered for the cause and will be assisting the Alzheimer’s Association in their efforts to raise money those affected by the illness.

The event will take place at B&B Lanes located at 3003 Ft Bragg Rd in Fayetteville. There are 24 team spots available and registration is $150 for a team of four.

Those looking to participate who don’t have a team of four can still reach out to be paired with another team, said ShaDonna McPhaul, membership development associate for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber.

“An event like this is important in our community because Alzheimer’s and dementia can happen to us [and] our loved ones, and we all need to know that we are not alone and that support is available,” she said.

The fundraiser will feature door prizes, raffles, and trophies for the winners in first, second and third place. The venue features a snack bar where attendees can purchase food and drinks.

“This is the first time that the Chamber is doing this event with the Alzheimer’s Association,” McPhaul said. “The chamber and visitors bureau have teamed up to meet a $5,000 team goal.”

The bowling fundraiser will help support ‘Walk to End Alzheimer’ event happening Oct. 30 starting at the Segra Stadium located downtown. Registration for the event begins at 9 a.m.

The walk will honor the 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer's, their 11 million unpaid caregivers and those lost to the disease, while raising awareness and funds to advance care and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. All the funds raised from these events will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The association is looking for individual donations to support their team as well as donated items to use for door prizes & raffles for participating teams. Checks can be made payable to the Alzheimer’s Association and mailed to 4600 Park Rd Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209 along with the enclosed donation form.
