CDL and Truck Driving Academy graduates 18 students; achieves 99% pass rate

Robeson Community College recently celebrated 18 graduates from the CDL and Truck Driving Academy. These students have persevered and worked hard to complete the requirements which lead to a commercial driver’s license and certificate of completion.

The day program is 10-weeks long, spanning 480 hours with students spending approximately 60% of their time on the range and 40% in the classroom, which includes some online learning.

Skylar Barnhill, Noldy Bony, Christopher Chavis, Holden Chavis, Keenan Davis, Joshua Godwin, Carlton Hilliard, Shaquana Jenkins, Jonathan Lewis, Penny Locklear, Jeffery Martin, Martino Rhone, Jr., Tybriss Moad, Travis Mullis, Matthew Oliver, Grady Oxendine, Jr., Cory West and Jerry Wilkins all completed the course, which saw a 99% pass rate this term.

Robeson Community College’s CDL Training Academy is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to drive tractor-trailers. The program covers essential driving techniques, driver responsibilities, commercial motor vehicle laws, and the foundational principles of operating commercial vehicles safely and efficiently. Coursework includes topics such as motor vehicle laws and regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security and fire protection.
