The Town of Hope Mills was joined by local leaders and residents to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new site that will be a hub for food trucks, connections and grassroots community building.
Located at 3414 Bullard St. in Hope Mills, the new food truck park and community center known as “The Hive” officially broke ground on Wednesday, April 9.
“I would drive by this lot with this residential house here, and I was always looking at it [thinking] 'Wow, that's just a prime piece of land, somebody should do something with it. It's an opportunity in the waiting,' and and I've got to give it up to the good Lord for directing my heart with this project. I reached out to the realtor that had this property at the time, and they were out of contract, and he put me in touch with the property owner,” shared Project Lead Kevin Grant at the event.
The Hive will bring diverse food options and community events to Hope Mills. With space for seven food trucks at a time, a covered stage and a market for local artisans and farmers, The Hive will support a variety of local businesses while creating a welcoming place for residents to gather.
Kyle Holmes with H2 Contracting will be “building the buzz.” The grand opening is expected to be in fall 2025.
“Mr. Grant is bringing a valuable asset to the Town of Hope Mills with the introduction of a food truck park and a community center designed to serve as a welcoming gathering space for families. His proposed programs—focused on literacy, free bike rentals and specialized support for children with special needs—offer a unique and much-needed resource in our area. We are excited to support this initiative and look forward to exploring opportunities for a partnership that benefits the entire Hope Mills community,” shared Town Manager Chancer F. McLaughlin.
