Governor Josh Stein recently announced that Harnett County is among 30 counties selected to receive funding through the Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program, an initiative focused on expanding access to high-speed internet for unserved and underserved areas.
The projects will be supported by more than $44 million in federal American Rescue Plan funding, administered by the North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT), along with over $19 million from selected broadband providers.
In Harnett County, Spectrum Southeast, LLC has been chosen as the broadband provider and will provide high-speed internet to 300 homes and businesses across the county (7.87% of the county’s 3,810 eligible locations).
“North Carolinians’ need access to high-speed internet to connect them with friends and family, business opportunities, telehealth, and more,” said Governor Josh Stein in a press release. “Broadband is key 21st Century infrastructure, and these partnerships between counties across the state and internet providers will help connect more North Carolinians.”
